Digital Drop Flap Board For All

anthony · Jul 2, 2026
I posted about the live Hacker News drop flap flip-board and was not expecting it to receive the kind of traffic it did. I received a lot of great feedback and kind words. But there were two things that stood out to me: A) This could just be a fun web-app that anyone can use. B) I gotta build a real one. A Drop Flap Board Anyone Can Use Using Quickish as a host and service provider (duh), I completely re-designed the drop flap board, optimized it and made it a fun service that anyone with a google account can create flipboard (flap boards?). I even attached a custom domain to this one (which you can do in Quickish by the way): DropFlapBoard.com I know. This site makes use of a few neat Quickish services: server functions, realtime db streaming, custom domains. Like always, you can also remix it and make it your own. You can just click the remix button or use the CLI. Once you remix you can go to the control panel and download the source (MIT) and have your way with it. Making it Real Another obvious next path is making a real one. A real one you can tie to the digital one you just created on dropflapboard.com.  I've got the designs laid out. Parts ordered. I may have found a way to make a relatively large, mechanical drop flap board while cutting down on cost by 10x. If all goes well I will be making them purchasable. They will be much cheaper than the alternatives right now. To Close I always have fun building cool things on the web and on device. I am sold more and more every day on the value Quickish has to not only individual builders but what it unlocks for workspaces. When you remove the friction that hinders our creativity and voice, the possibilities couldn't possibly be foreseen. I have some crazy new features to announce in the coming weeks! - Tony
